The activity aimed to bring the ocean closer to students to raise awareness of the close relationship between people and marine ecosystems.

Dozens of specialists linked to the Institute have collaborated on the publication, which can be downloaded free of charge from the website libros.csic.es.

Comprising almost 140 member Governments, IPBES does, to some extent, for biodiversity what the IPCC does for climate change.

The initiative will raise awareness of the role of planktonic communities in maintaining the processes that sustain life on Earth through an interactive website, identification guides and children's stories, among other educational materials.

The investment will serve to acquire new strategic capabilities such as the analysis of toxic elements or the use of isotopes for particle traceability.

During these years, more than 3,600 people have been involved in the project, generating more than 16,600 observations, which endorses the trajectory of this great community of sea lovers.
