I hold a degree in Biology from the University of Oviedo and a Master’s degree in Biodiversity Conservation and Restoration of Marine and Terrestrial Environments from the University of Alicante. My research background is focused on environmental pollution, particularly microplastic contamination in marine ecosystems. My undergraduate and master’s research addressed the effects, accumulation, and ecological implications of microplastics in aquatic organisms, including studies on Laetmonice filicornis in deep-sea ecosystems and the evaluation of the blue crab Callinectes sapidus as a bioindicator of chemical pollutants and microplastics. This work has contributed to scientific dissemination in the fields of marine pollution and ecotoxicology. Currently, I am pursuing a PhD under the supervision of Andrea G. Bravo, where my research also focuses on mercury contamination and its biogeochemical cycle in aquatic ecosystems, with particular emphasis on the environmental dynamics, transformation processes, and ecological impacts of this pollutant.
