About the role and the team
We are recruiting an enthusiastic and highly motivated professional as Grant Advisor and Manager for European and International Research Funding at the ICM. The successful candidate will join the recently created Pre-Award Grants Management Unit, act as a liaison with the Post-Award Grants Management Unit, and closely interface with other units of the ICM Research Support Office (Internationalization, Transfer, Talent Development and Work Environment, Communication) and the CSIC International Programmes Area when required. The unit is aimed at providing comprehensive and structured support to ICM researchers during the whole pre-award project lifecycle process (tracking of funding opportunities and potential alliances, proposal preparation, submission and acceptance) and increasing their grant-writing capacity and success rate when participating in diversified competitive funding calls. The team is oriented to expand the competitiveness and international leadership of the ICM by prioritizing the fundraising of relevant grants and the establishment of effective consortia with top-tier actors at local and international level within the marine sciences and related areas. All activities are aligned with the ICM institutional strategy and reported directly to the Deputy Director of Scientific Strategy and the Administration Manager.
Job description
The successful candidate will be involved in several tasks that include:
- Promotion of the participation of ICM staff in European and International competitive funding opportunities (grants and fellowships)
- Identification and dissemination of competitive funding calls and trends
- Taylor-made support to ICM Research Groups to identify topics that fit their interests and potential partners to collaborate with
- Organization of internal activities related to competitive funding opportunities (infodays, events, training sessions), including dedicated sessions to guide debutant research staff
- Grant advisory to help PIs who want to coordinate consortia to get their projects funded
- Assistance in the proposal drafting, revision and submission, while ensuring a proper planning and fulfilment of administrative requirements
- Content creation and management of the ICM’s pre-award noticeboard
- Supporting the management of applications submitted and the acceptance of the funded proposals
- Strategic analysis of the evaluation processes and results of the submitted proposals
Expected background and skills
- Advanced degree in experimental or social sciences
- Proven experience in EU/International competitive funding management
- Effective oral and written communication skills in English, Spanish and Catalan
- Good skills in document elaboration and proofreading
- Experience in marine science research ecosystem is desirable
- Specific training in Horizon Europe framework programme and proposal preparation will be an asset, likewise familiarity with other International Programmes (LIFE+, Interreg, …)
- Knowledge of transversal aspects in research (open science, research integrity, gender dimension, AI tools for research management, …) and previous experience in CSIC/CERCA centers or Higher Education Institutions will be valued
- Very good interpersonal communication
- Well-organized person with attention to details and multi-task capacity
- Proactive, flexible, problem-solving and team-player attitudes
- IT skills (proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital communication tools)
- Willingness to travel occasionally

- Full-time indefinite contract with funded secured for 2 years, renewable based on funding availability.
