This year we have 25 students from more than 10 different countries and 24 speakers from here and from all over the world, most of them known internationally. The Colloquia consist on a serial of theoretical conferences in the morning combined with discussion sessions, where the newness is that we look for more interactions between teachers and students by engaging the students in the leadership of some discussion groups of their specialties. Moreover, in the afternoon we offer courses about the R and Matlab programs and their applications, since they are currently very used in science.

The Ramon Margalef Summer Colloquia is a summer school for young researchers, driven and designed by the Institute of Marine Sciences (CSIC) with the organizational support of the Catalan Association of Oceanographers (ACOIO), this year jointly with the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), the Barcelona University (UB), the Barcelona Autonoma University (UAB) and the Center for Ecological Research and Forestry Applications (CREAF). We also agree the economical support of some grants from the Asociación Española de Ecología Terrestre (AEET) and the Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (SCOR).
