The Institut de Ciències del Mar (ICM) is looking for a candidate for a predoctoral contract to join the Ecology of Marine Microbes Group in the MerTerMar project, which aims to understand the role of submarine groundwater discharge in Hg cycling. In particular, the PhD candidate will i) quantify the concentrations of HgII and MeHg in coastal aquifers and calculate their export to the Mediterranean Sea, ii) determine the effect of groundwater discharge on the formation of MeHg in the coastal areas; iii) identify the organisms involved in Hg cycling at the terrestrial-groundwater-marine continuum.
