Joan Llort is a Ramon y Cajal researcher, graduated in Physics from the University of Barcelona and with a PhD in oceanography at the Sorbonne University in Paris, France. He developed his research career at the University of Tasmania, Australia, and later at the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre. Joan’s research focuses on the effects of desert dust and wildfires on marine ecosystems and the biological carbon pump combining models, satellite observations, and marine robot data (Argo floats). He is strongly involved in the ESA Ocean Carbon community and the SOLAS international network. He regularly engages with in art-science projects that aim to reframe oceanographic and climate research from alternative aesthetic and conceptual perspectives.
