I am a marine biologist specializing in cetacean bioacoustics, ocean noise, and ship collision risk assessments. My research focuses on understanding cetacean behavior and ecology through the detection and analysis of their vocalizations using passive acoustic monitoring techniques. These include autonomous and towed hydrophones, ocean-bottom seismometers, and submarine telecommunication cables, an emerging technology in marine acoustic research. My main research interests include the vocal behavior and song evolution of baleen whales, the effects of anthropogenic noise on their communication, and the development of acoustic methods to mitigate ship collisions.
